Frequently Asked Questions

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy assists individuals in coping with dysfunction, whether physical, psychological, or both. Occupational therapists are concerned with person-centred care so goals are set together in order to suit the individual.

How do I know if my Occupational Therapist is fully qualified?

All of our experienced occupational therapists at Leeds Occupational Therapy are registered with the Health Professions Council which is a pre-requisite to practicing the profession.

What can I expect from my treatment?

Initially you would have a thorough, holistic assessment in which your expectations would be explored and all areas of your life would be considered. From this you may be recommended a series of sessions in order to meet the goals set. The goals could be revisited at a later date and amended if necessary.

Are you open at weekends or in the evening?

Yes we can offer clinic appointments on both Saturdays and Sundays and we are open until 8pm on weekdays.

Do you treat children?

Yes we offer a paediatric service and have specialised paediatric occupational therapists who are very experienced in assessing and working with children.

How much would it be for an assessment?

The cost of an adult OT assessment varies from a paediatric assessment. The best thing to do is to call us on 0113 880 0222 for a quote.

How much is a treatment session?

Again, the price of a treatment session for an adult varies from that for a child. Please call us on 0113 880 0222 for a quote for a treatment session.

Do you do home visits?

Yes we can visit you in your own home or you can visit us at the clinic.

Can you give my child or I a diagnosis?

We can correctly identify problems but we cannot give a medical diagnosis.

I live in London, would you be willing to visit me here or do I need to travel to you?

We can visit you in London for your assessment but please be aware that you may require a series of treatment sessions following your assessment.

Can my family come with me to my appointments?

Yes we have no issues with family, friends, or carers being present at the appointment.

Do you have a cancellation charge?

Yes we require 24 hours' notice if you can no longer attend your appointment otherwise we are not able to refund you the cost of your appointment.

Do you have a waiting list?

No, we are usually able to offer appointments within one week.

Do you accept private healthcare insurance?

Yes, we are very experienced in dealing with private medical insurance companies, including BUPA, AXA and many others. You would need to get an authorisation code from your insurance company so that we know that they are happy to cover the fees. You would also need to check what your insurance covers i.e. if there were any limitations.

Is there somewhere for me to park if I come to the clinic?

Yes there is on-street parking available.

Will I get treatment during the assessment?

It depends on the nature of your condition. Some clients may receive some treatment if the assessment is completed quickly, other initial assessments may take up the full appointment slot.

Why should I pick Leeds occupational therapy over other private occupational therapy practices?
